Employers liability insurance protects the policyholder against claims made by employees against the employer in respect of their legal liability for injury or disease sustained by the employee in the course of their employment.
EL cover as it is often referred to is a at least mandatory, or legally required, class of insurance for all employers in the United Kingdom, with only a handful of exceptions relating to businesses where the sole employee is also at least a 51% shareholder in the company, certain government agencies and businesses where the employees are all closely related.
